Family Bank

A daring overnight break-in at the Family Bank branch in Ruiru Town has left residents stunned and authorities scrambling for answers. The incident, which is believed to have taken place in the early hours of Tuesday morning, was discovered when bank staff reported for work and found signs of forced entry at the rear of the building.

According to preliminary reports from Kiambu County Police Commander Martin Nzioka, the culprits appear to have gained access through the bank’s back wall, which had been meticulously drilled through — pointing to a well-coordinated and possibly insider-assisted operation.

CCTV footage is currently under review, but early indications suggest that the robbers disabled the alarm system and security cameras before making their move. While police have yet to release the exact amount stolen, sources within the bank hint at a substantial loss, with several safes reportedly tampered with.

“It was not a random act. These criminals knew exactly what they were doing,” said a senior officer at the scene. “We are following leads, and no possibility is being ruled out — including insider involvement.”

Ruiru residents gathered outside the bank in shock as forensic teams dusted for fingerprints and collected evidence. Many expressed concern over the increasing number of robberies targeting financial institutions in the region.

Family Bank has since issued a statement confirming the incident and assuring customers that no client funds or data were compromised. “We are cooperating fully with law enforcement and will take all necessary steps to strengthen branch security,” the statement read.

No arrests had been made by the time of publishing, but investigators say the operation bears the hallmark of a well-funded and professional gang. The hunt is on, and Kenyans will be watching closely as this high-profile probe unfolds.
