Ann Nyawira, mother of slain Brian Kimutai has alleged why her late son was fatally shot dead on Monday 7, July 2025 during the Saba Saba demos, by a GK Prison officer who knew him (Kimutai) very well and on a personal level.

While speaking to journalists hours after the painful ordeal, Ann Nyawira indicated that the GK prison officer killed her son because he allegedly had a grudge against Kimutai, over a motorbike, he had purchased few months ago prior to his death.
While making her revelation, Ann Nyawira indicated that her son was neither a protesters nor a looter and was shot just a few meters from their home located along Kitengela prison road where demonstrations were going on.
She further indicated that before her son was sprayed with bullets by the rogue GK prison officer, a number of uniformed police officers marched towards Brian Kimutai and were fully determined to kill him.
As a result, Kimutai went down on his knees and raised up his hands in surrender, but his efforts to seek for mercy from the police bore no fruits as he was sprayed with bullets by the GK prison officer who later vanished into thin air.
In regards to the untimely matter, Ann Nyawira is now demanding for an independent probe on the GK prison officer who sprayed the live bullets that killed her son as well as compensation for the unfortunate loss.
