Wanga

Governor Gladys Wanga faced a tense moment during the burial ceremony of Albert Ojwang in Homabay County when an angry crowd interrupted her speech. The incident occurred as she addressed mourners, with some people shouting and heckling her.

Despite the chaos, the governor tried to maintain her composure and continue with her remarks.

Yesterday residents of Homabay torched down Mawego police station where Ojwang was first taken before being transported to Central Police station in Nairobi where he met with his death under unclear circumstances.

According to autopsy and testimonies from suspects, Ojwang was tortured and died a very painful death that raised public anger whereby even youths stormed the streets to demand justice and accountability from the government.

Witnesses reported that the crowd’s frustration stemmed from unmet expectations, though the exact reasons were unclear. Some mourners voiced their dissatisfaction loudly, creating a tense atmosphere at the event. Security personnel stepped in to calm the situation as the governor pressed on with her speech.

Governor Wanga acknowledged the concerns raised by the crowd, urging for calm and promising to address their issues. She emphasized the importance of unity, especially during such a somber occasion. The burial proceeded afterward, but the incident left a lasting impression on those in attendance.
