Man Regr

A man has come forward with a chilling account of how a personal decision to marry a second wife in a bid to restore peace in his household spiraled into a nightmare that landed him behind bars for 15 years.

David Njoroge Chege, speaking to Jamba TV’s Simon Kibe, detailed how friction with his first wife led him to seek what he thought would be a peaceful alternative a younger second wife. The idea, according to him, was that the first wife would become more cooperative once he took another woman into the home. Instead, the opposite happened.

Almost immediately after marrying his second wife, Njoroge says the relationship turned rocky. Their union was plagued with arguments over property, including ownership disputes involving livestock and even a bicycle. What shocked him most was the escalation of those quarrels into police reports. The woman accused him of theft and frequently involved local authorities, including the area chief. Njoroge insists the accusations were false and meant to frustrate him.

Feeling cornered, he left their home in Free Area and relocated to Njoro in hopes of finding peace. But a call from his second wife, claiming one of her children had fallen sick, drew him back. Once again, tension flared. Public altercations became frequent, and she reportedly branded him a fugitive in front of neighbors, further damaging his reputation.

His worst fears materialized one fateful night in 2015 when police raided his Njoro residence at around 2 a.m. He was arrested after the woman accused him of assaulting her child. Found guilty, he was initially sentenced to life in prison—a verdict that was later reduced to 15 years.

Now nearing the end of his term, Njoroge says the experience has reshaped his outlook on relationships and the consequences of emotional decisions. His attempt to restore domestic order through polygamy only compounded his problems and cost him more than he ever imagined.

His story stands as a sobering reminder that choices made in anger or pride can carry long-term consequences, especially when personal issues are allowed to spiral into legal battles.
