Tension erupted in Tigania East on Saturday 21st June 2025, as a group of hired goons attempted to block the road and stop former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua from addressing local residents.

The rowdy group reportedly erected barriers near Mikinduri town, hoping to disrupt the planned public engagement organized under the DCP banner.

Despite their efforts, determined locals quickly mobilized and overpowered the goons, clearing the way for Gachagua’s motorcade to proceed.

Witnesses said the crowd chanted slogans in support of the WAN TAM movement, insisting that their voices would not be silenced.

Once in Mikinduri, Gachagua was received by thousands of enthusiastic residents waving placards and cheering his name.

In his address, Gachagua praised the resilience of Tigania East residents and assured them that their support would not be in vain.

He criticized unnamed political forces for attempting to suppress democratic expression through intimidation and violence.

The DCP leader reaffirmed his commitment to development-focused leadership and inclusive politics.

He also promised to prioritize key issues affecting the region, including poor roads, unemployment, and agricultural challenges.

leaders who accompanied him like former Agriculture CS Franklin Mithika Linturi condemned the attempted blockade and urged national security agencies to investigate the incident.

Residents said they had waited for weeks to hear from Gachagua and would not allow external interference to derail their agenda.

As the rally ended peacefully, chants of “WAN TAM! WAN TAM!” echoed through the town, signaling strong grassroots support.

The event marked a significant moment for Gachagua’s political comeback in the Mt. Kenya region.
