Gospel musician and philanthropist Karangu Muraya has turned to the public for advice after being chased away by a section of angry residents in Murang’a.

Taking to Facebook on Wednesday evening, June 11, 2025, Muraya asked his followers to advise him constructively, saying he was ready to listen but would not entertain insults.

“Tonight, I’m home early and taking my time to listen to you all. Please use this platform to advise me, not to insult me. I’m listening to you all,” Muraya’s post read.

His post received more than 12,000 comments within hours, as Kenyans took to the comments section to render their advice.

Many urged the celebrated gospel artist to reconsider his recent public actions, warning that his growing association with the government would erode his support base.

One Kenyan cautioned Muraya against serving two masters, urging him to choose between the gospel ministry and politics.

Another warned that the musician’s current path would cost him dearly, especially if it continued to alienate the very people who once embraced him.

A few other Kenyans also came up with made-up but funny proverbs to advise Muraya.

There were also concerns that Muraya had allowed politics to overshadow his charitable work, with some accusing him of being used for political ends.

A few encouraged him to remain grounded and to stay focused on his philanthropic mission. Others reminded him of the goodwill he still enjoys but warned that public trust was fragile.

Muraya’s Facebook post followed a video showing him being chased away by an angry crowd shouting “one term.”

Police quickly escorted the musician from the scene. The incident happened just days after he and other Mt Kenya musicians met President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi.
