Samidoh Announces U.S. Tour Amid Police Desertion Controversy

Mugithi artist and police officer Samuel Michuki Ndirangu, better known by his stage name Samidoh, has stirred fresh debate after confirming a new concert tour across the United States.

The announcement comes in the middle of a controversy surrounding his status within the National Police Service (NPS), with claims that he has gone missing from his post without leave.

Through a post on his official Facebook page, Samidoh shared a cryptic message: “No matter how high an eagle flies, it must come down to look for food,” a phrase that many interpreted as a subtle response to the accusations leveled against him.

Despite the backlash, the musician remains undeterred, setting his sights on the international stage.

According to the tour schedule, Samidoh is set to perform in several U.S. cities beginning June 21 in Houston, Texas. Other stops include Austin (June 28), Lowell, Massachusetts (July 4), and Dallas, Texas (July 5).

The tour will conclude in Seattle on July 12 with a special show dubbed Ngemi Cia Ruraya.

However, just days before this announcement, a letter attributed to the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) surfaced, alleging that Samidoh has been absent from duty since May 27, shortly after his scheduled off-duty period ended.

The document claimed that the singer had failed to report back and could not be located, prompting the unit to classify him as a deserter. His police salary has reportedly been suspended as a result.

In contrast, National Police Service spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga downplayed the development, suggesting that the circulated letter may not be genuine.

“At this point, we can’t confirm the document’s authenticity. It could have been generated using AI or other tools,” he said, casting doubt on its official standing.

Samidoh had recently been reassigned from Gilgil in Nakuru County to Baringo County, a region frequently affected by livestock theft and security challenges.

The move may have added pressure to his dual roles as a performer and law enforcement officer.

Online reactions to the saga have been mixed, ranging from amusement to concern.

While some fans jokingly advised him to send his uniform via courier, others expressed solidarity, praising his musical contributions.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his police status, Samidoh appears focused on his music career and determined to fulfill his commitments to fans abroad.
