Kenyan comedian and content creator 2Mbili has reflected on the loss of his mother after seeing the young son of late Arbantone artiste Stoopid Boy during the musician’s final send-off in Nyandarua County.
2Mbili shared the emotional reflection on Instagram on Thursday, September 17, 2026, a day after Stoopid Boy was buried at his mother’s home in Miharati, Kipipiri.
According to 2Mbili, seeing the young boy brought back memories of his own childhood and the loss of his mother in 2000. He said he was only seven years old at the time and did not immediately understand the seriousness of what had happened.
The comedian recalled watching relatives and other mourners cry, call his mother’s name and comfort him and his siblings.
At that age, however, he struggled to understand why everyone was grieving so deeply.
2Mbili explained that the pain did not fully register immediately. Instead, he said, the reality of losing his mother became clearer as he grew older and began experiencing her absence in his daily life.
He described the experience as one that eventually brought him to tears whenever he was reminded that his mother was no longer around.
The experience influenced how he viewed Stoopid Boy’s son during the burial ceremony. He observed that the child appeared to be attending an ordinary village gathering without fully understanding the circumstances surrounding his father’s death.
2Mbili suggested that the young boy may understand the magnitude of the loss more clearly as he grows older.
Stoopid Boy, whose real name was Edgar Waititu, died on August 27, 2026. He left behind two young children.
His burial followed disagreements between his maternal and paternal families over his final resting place. His father, George William Ochieng Awili, had reportedly wanted the artiste buried at the family’s ancestral home in Alego, Siaya County, saying that Stoopid Boy had expressed such a wish before his death.
The dispute also resulted in court proceedings that affected the burial arrangements before an agreement was eventually reached.
Stoopid Boy was ultimately laid to rest at his mother’s home in Miharati, Kipipiri, on Wednesday, September 16.
Reflecting on the future of the children, 2Mbili prayed that they would receive the love, protection and opportunities needed to cope with life without their father.
He particularly prayed for their health, education, safety and ability to navigate the challenges they may face as they grow up.
For 2Mbili, the burial was therefore more than a farewell to another entertainer. Seeing Stoopid Boy’s son connected the moment to a personal childhood loss he has carried for decades.
His reflection highlighted how the meaning of losing a parent can change as a child grows, with memories and the absence of the parent becoming more significant over time.
