Nominated MP Gakuya has sent a strong warning to President William Ruto, threatening to initiate an impeachment motion against him if his allies continue their plans to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking during a church service in Kiambu County, Gakuya expressed his concern over the apparent silence of President Ruto as members of his camp push for Gachagua’s ouster. The legislator stated that should these efforts succeed, he would take immediate action to bring an impeachment motion against the president as a form of retaliation.
“If those MPs pushing for Rigathi’s ouster manage to impeach him, I, as the MP, will take an impeachment motion against Ruto also to face the same turmoil, and he will not believe it,” Gakuya declared.
He further criticized the president for not addressing the growing tension within his ranks, where allies are reportedly undermining the Deputy President. Gakuya called for the president to issue a firm warning to those plotting Gachagua’s removal.
The MP’s bold remarks underscore the growing political friction within the Kenya Kwanza coalition as divisions seem to deepen ahead of potential major political shifts.
