President William Ruto has directed the management of Alliance High School to change the contractor handling a major classroom construction project.
The directive was issued during the school’s centenary celebrations held at the institution’s main campus in Kikuyu.
Ruto said the government will increase funding for the ongoing expansion project. The original plan was to construct 21 new classrooms. However, the number has now been raised to 40 classrooms to meet growing demand and improve learning space.
The budget has also been revised upwards. The initial allocation of KSh35 million has been increased to KSh60 million. The President noted that the additional funds will ensure that the work is completed on time and to the required standards.
He instructed the school principal to terminate the current contractor and hand over the project to another contractor identified as Hinga. The President made it clear that the change should be effected without delay.
The government has also completed other projects at the school. A new dormitory and a modern dining hall were officially handed over during the event. Work on improving internal roads within the school compound is still ongoing.
Ruto said the government remains committed to supporting national schools with strong academic records and long histories. He noted that Alliance High School has played a key role in shaping leaders in Kenya for many decades.
