A church wedding turned dramatic on Saturday when a woman and her five children stormed a local pastor’s ceremony, accusing him of abandoning his family to marry another woman. The shocking incident occurred at the Vision Beyond Living Gospel Church in Ngurubani, just moments before Reverend Chomba, 38, was set to wed Regina, a fellow minister at the same church.
The ceremony had just begun when the woman, identified as Rose, interrupted the service with her children in tow. She claimed she and the pastor had been legally married since 2013 and were never divorced. Her presence sparked confusion and tension among guests, some of whom tried to block her from reaching the altar.
“This man is my husband. We solemnized our marriage in church and have five children together. I was never informed that he intended to remarry,” Rose told reporters outside the church.
According to her, the pastor left their matrimonial home nearly a year ago and had since cut off communication and support. She further alleged that he was planning to sell the family’s land without her consent.
One of their children, visibly emotional, said, “Our mother has been struggling to raise us alone. It’s painful to see him move on as if we don’t exist.”
The situation escalated quickly, prompting concerned members of the congregation to call the police. Officers from Wanguru Police Station responded and helped restore order at the scene. Mwea East police commander Patrick Nyaanga confirmed the incident and said the matter is under review.
The wedding was immediately called off, and the church leadership has not released a formal statement regarding the disruption or the pastor’s marital status.
The dramatic showdown has since gone viral on social media, with many Kenyans weighing in on issues of accountability, faith, and family values—especially when it comes to religious leaders.
As investigations continue, the affected family and the church community are left grappling with the fallout of what was supposed to be a sacred union
