A woman from Kibera, Kenya has come forward with a harrowing tale of betrayal by her own husband. Caroline Achieng, a 44-year-old mother of six, has shared the painful story of how her life was turned upside down when her husband impregnated their daughter and then conspired with her to defraud Caroline through a fake cancer diagnosis.
Caroline’s story began when she met her husband at the young age of 22, after previously living with her brother in less-than-ideal conditions. Despite the severe hardships they faced, including sleeping on the floor, Caroline remained hopeful for a better future.
However, the husband’s controlling behavior and insecurities soon became a source of immense struggle for Caroline. He forbade her from working, fearing she might be “seduced” by other men. Forced to beg for food, Caroline endured these challenges, believing that eventually, their situation would improve.
The turning point came when Caroline’s daughter started complaining of pain on the left side of her body. The husband suggested taking the daughter to Kijabe Hospital for treatment. Little did Caroline know, this was all part of a sinister plot.
“I later realized they never went to Kijabe Hospital but to Naivasha, seeking a private clinic to terminate my daughter’s pregnancy,” Caroline revealed in an interview with Citizen TV’s “Shajara na Lulu” show.
The pain and symptoms the daughter complained about were merely a cover-up for her pregnancy. The husband and daughter had conspired to deceive Caroline, with the husband then telling her that their daughter had a cancerous tumor and needed funds for radiation treatment.
“The duo concocted a story that her daughter had a cancerous tumour, prompting Caroline to desperately gather funds for radiation treatment. Her husband falsely claimed financial difficulties, further exploiting Caroline’s situation,” the report stated.
Caroline’s world had crumbled around her. The person she trusted the most had betrayed her in the most unimaginable way, impregnating their own daughter and then using her pain and suffering as a means to manipulate and defraud Caroline.
