A domestic dispute in Kayole turned fatal on Sunday night, leaving a man dead and his wife in police custody.

The incident occurred at around 8 p.m. in the Soweto‑Muoroto area, where 29‑year‑old Erick Ochieng Ogonji confronted his wife at their home.

Police reports indicate that Ogonji accused her of having an affair with one of two visitors present at the house.

The confrontation quickly escalated into a heated argument. During the quarrel, the woman allegedly pulled out a knife concealed at her waist and stabbed Ogonji in the chest.

Neighbors rushed the injured man to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, but he succumbed to his wounds despite efforts by medical staff.

 

Detectives from Kayole Police Station later arrested the suspect and recovered the knife believed to have been used in the attack.

Crime scene officers processed the house and collected evidence to aid ongoing investigations.

Ogonji’s body was taken to the Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital mortuary, where a post‑mortem examination is expected to determine the exact cause of death.

Police have assured the public that investigations are underway to establish the full circumstances of the tragedy.

This case adds to the rising number of domestic violence incidents reported across the country.

Authorities continue to urge couples to resolve disputes peacefully and seek counseling or mediation, warning that violence often leads to irreversible loss.
