A woman in Shinyalu, Kakamega County, has reportedly been killed following an alleged confrontation with her brother-in-law.
The man, said to be 29 years old, is alleged to have attacked his brother’s wife after she reportedly refused his advances.
According to accounts emerging from the area, the woman was married to a man who works in Saudi Arabia and was away from home at the time of the incident.
The woman had reportedly woken up to take her child to school. After returning home, she allegedly found the door to her house locked.
She is said to have gone to her brother-in-law and asked him to open the door for her. It was during this confrontation that an argument reportedly broke out between the two.
The man is alleged to have attacked the woman, hitting and cutting her on the head and stomach. She sustained serious injuries during the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the confrontation and the alleged motive remain subject to police investigations. The claim that the attack was linked to the woman refusing sexual advances has not been independently verified.
The incident has also renewed concerns among residents over security in parts of Shinyalu.
One person speaking about the incident claimed that insecurity in the area had deteriorated and raised concerns about the ability of police officers to respond quickly when emergencies occur.
The resident further claimed that police officers in the area lacked motorcycles to respond to incidents and called for them to be provided with vehicles.
