The president of Kenya, Dr William Samoe Ruto has reportedly appointed a former deputy presidential candidate for a top job on his government.
As reported by one source, the head of state has appointed Thirdway Alliance’s 2017 deputy presidential candidate, hon Emmanuel Nzai as the new chairperson of Kenya Vision 2030 delivery Board for the next 3 years. Nzai’s appointed was announced on a gazette notice dating 06/07/2024. His tenure in office started yesterday.
Nzai is going to take over from Caroline Kariuki who served for only two years. Before his appointment, Nzai served as Chief Executive Officer of Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani Secretariat which he also founded. Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani is a regional economic development organisation representing Kenya’s six coastal counties; Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu and Taita Taveta.
On other hand, the LSK president has rejected Ruto’s appointment to a taskforce that will be auditing the Kenya’s debt. According to LSK, Ruto’s taskforce is unconstitutional because auditing role belongs to auditor general.
