Chepkoech Lidya, widow of Sportpesa Ronoh, one of the victims of the recent Nandi helicopter crash, has vowed to honor her late husband’s legacy while facing the challenges of life as a single mother.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Lidya promised to care for their children and shoulder the responsibilities left behind by her husband.
“I won’t fail you. I know your spirit is with us wherever you are. I just have to accept that you are gone and gone forever,” she wrote, capturing the pain of a family suddenly thrust into life without a father and husband.
Ronoh, known affectionately as Sportpesa, was more than a government employee; he was a trusted aide to MP Johana Ng’eno, helping to organize constituency engagements and manage schedules.
Colleagues and friends describe him as a reliable and hardworking individual who bridged the gap between the MP and the public.
Karen Chepkendy, a friend, noted, “When you asked Ngong for anything, be it his schedule, support, to meet him or anything, he would tell you to remind him through Sportpesa,” highlighting his dedication and trustworthiness.
Lidya’s words resonated deeply with the community, reflecting both grief and resilience. She not only expressed sorrow for losing her husband but also reassured their children that she would continue to guide and support them.
She emphasized the need to accept the painful reality while cherishing his memory and spirit, which she believes will continue to inspire the family.
As Lidya faces this new chapter, her resolve to maintain her husband’s legacy and nurture their children stands as a testament to love, strength, and endurance.
The tragic loss has united friends, family, and the community in mourning, while also highlighting the enduring impact of Ronoh’s dedication and commitment to both his family and public service.
