Just weeks after the Kenya Navy intercepted a non-registered dhow, codenamed ‘IGOR,’ 630 kilometers east of the Mombasa Coast, a significant scandal has emerged.

The initial operation was hailed as a major success, leading to the seizure of 1,024 kilograms of methamphetamine with a street value of approximately 8.2 billion.

Despite the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) issuing an assurance that all the drugs were accounted for and that internal investigations had commenced, subsequent inquiries by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have revealed a massive breach of protocol and possible criminal involvement.

The investigation has centered on a missing portion of the colossal drug haul.

In a recent development, eight Kenya Navy soldiers have been detained for an additional ten days on suspicion of being involved in the disappearance of part of the consignment.

Citizens TV has this evening established that giving out a bold headline that” Soldiers arrested over drugs seized in the Indian Ocean. Missing consignment is part of the KSh 8.2B drug haul.”

The DCI has been actively investigating the matter and the arrests suggest that the military officers are being questioned about their alleged role in allowing a portion of the seized narcotics to go missing.

This development has raised serious questions about the integrity of the operation and has cast a shadow over the initial victory against drug trafficking.

The authorities have taken a firm stance, ensuring that all aspects of the operation have been scrutinized to uphold the KDF’s integrity.
