Kenyans online are still stunned after detectives raided the house of Shedrack Omondi Okindo, alias Hon. Mosquito – the TikToker behind a viral video warning President William Ruto. The daring clip, which exploded on TikTok on August 1, had security agencies scrambling for answers. Now, new details about what was found in his Miritini hideout have made the situation even more tense.

In a fast-paced operation by DCI sleuths, Okindo was smoked out from his low-key residence in Mombasa County. His arrest, which came just days after the video went viral, has sparked heated debates on free speech, sedition, and political resistance in Kenya.

Inside the house, detectives say they uncovered more than just electronics. Recovered items include two pairs of tactical combat fatigues – a clear red flag to security agencies.

Even more alarming was a notebook scribbled with the words: “We are going to apply guerrilla resistance tactics – Justice to all freedom heroes.” Investigators also found three mobile phones and documents linked to the controversial Justice Direction Party.

Police believe this wasn’t just a random outburst, but a calculated move to stoke public unrest. “This was not ordinary online noise. The items we recovered show deeper planning and possible affiliations,” one senior officer hinted anonymously.

While Hon. Mosquito’s online supporters claim he’s being persecuted for “speaking truth to power,” the state sees something more sinister: potential incitement to chaos. Analysts are now questioning whether this could open the floodgates for more digital crackdowns.

Okindo remains in custody as the state prepares to charge him. Meanwhile, his TikTok account has since been flagged for investigation and potential deactivation.

With Kenya’s political temperature already high ahead of the 2027 elections, the government’s response to digital dissent is drawing both praise and criticism in equal measure.
