According to preliminary reports, Abdi Sahel is accused of luring the Form Four student with a gift reported to be a watch before allegedly assaulting her.
The reports further claim that after the incident, the teacher is said to have fled, leaving the student in distress.
Community members say the case has since spread quickly, raising concerns about student safety in schools and trust between learners and their teachers.
The victim’s father said he took his daughter to the nearest dispensary soon after he became aware of what had happened.
He told authorities that medical officers confirmed that the student had been raped and was left with a pregnancy estimated to be about one month at the time of confirmation.
The father maintained that the pregnancy and the alleged assault are connected, and he urged that the matter be handled through formal channels rather than informal settlement.
The 18-year-old girl, according to her family, is expected to sit for her KCSE final examinations.
She is in the final year and is preparing for tests that determine her transition into further education or vocational training.
