The police’s rejection of Juja Member of Parliament Hon. George Koimburi’s abduction accusation has sparked a heated discussion among Kenyans and other politicians.

Leaders close to the government have been outspoken in their accusations that the MP was being exploited by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for political ends, specifically to undermine the President’s present administration.

Senator Boni Khalwale of Kakamega County said the Juja MP’s episode is very regrettable and raises concerns about the role of integrity in leadership while posting a video of Hon. Junet Mohamed, the National Assembly’s Minority Leader, denouncing the indicent act in the National Assembly.

The Senator said that it is time for integrity to start having some significance in Kenya while advocating for it. Integrity must have some significance. The UDA Senator said, “It is very unfortunate.”

The MP’s remarks were made just hours after Inspector General of Police Mohamed Amin made a statement yesterday confirming that the MP was never kidnapped and that the entire incident was staged for political reasons.
