Kalombote

In a chilling twist that has gripped the nation, detectives have finally arrested Kennedy Kalombotole—the man believed to be behind the shocking killings inside Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH). This case, which has left many Kenyans shaken, has now taken a major turn with his capture.

Kalombotole was arrested on Wednesday by DCI homicide detectives after the gruesome killing of Edward Maingi Ndegwa, a patient who had been admitted in Ward 7B.

Even more disturbing, the suspect is now also being linked to another mysterious death that happened earlier this year in the same hospital. More on the developing story here.

According to early investigations, Kalombotole is suspected of targeting vulnerable male patients—most of them bedridden—under the guise of being a fellow patient or hospital staff.

The fact that such killings happened right inside Kenya’s top referral hospital, a place meant for healing and safety, is what has shocked many.

Kenyans online have expressed outrage and confusion, asking how someone could carry out such heinous crimes in such a heavily monitored institution. What’s even more worrying is that the two killings occurred months apart, which raises big questions about hospital security and whether these murders could have been prevented.

This arrest comes after growing pressure from the public and patients’ families who demanded answers. The hospital, which has remained largely quiet, now faces even more scrutiny over patient safety and how someone could operate within their wards unchecked.

For many young Kenyans, especially those with sick relatives in public hospitals, this case hits home. It reminds us how fragile life is and why institutions must prioritize not just treatment but also protection.

Now that Kalombotole is in custody, all eyes are on the investigators. Kenyans want justice—not just for the victims, but for every patient who fears they may be next.

One thing is certain: Kenyatta National Hospital must now prove that such a horror will never happen again. The silence has ended—and no more secrets will be hidden behind ward curtains.
