New details have emerged following the killing of a second-year Mount Kenya University (MKU) student in Eldoret, after a police update and new accounts from family members.
The boyfriend of the deceased, who is believed to have been known to her, is reported to have told his father what he had done before the authorities began investigations into the stabbing death of Faith Jeptoo in Action Area, Eldoret.
Speaking to Citizen TV as the remains were taken out of the Eldoret morgue, the victim’s father said he received information that pointed to the suspect’s actions and movement soon after the attack.
According to the father, he attempted to reach his daughter by phone shortly before he realized something was seriously wrong. When the line remained unreachable, he rushed to where she resided and found her with stab wounds.
Faith Jeptoo, frequently referred to online as Faith Cheptoo, was a second-year student at the MKU Eldoret campus.
She was found dead in her rented room in Action Estate on Sunday morning, August 23, 2026.
Faith was pursuing a Bachelor of Education (Arts) degree. She hailed from Kimowo/Kamokoiwo village in Kapyego Ward, Marakwet East, Elgeyo Marakwet County.
The deceased was also an alumna of Sambirir Girls Secondary School.
Family and community accounts indicate that she was attacked using a sharp weapon, and preliminary findings suggest she sustained multiple injuries consistent with a knife attack.
Her body was discovered inside the house, which was reportedly locked from the outside using a padlock.
Following the discovery, the case was formally reported at Ainaptich Police Station in Moiben Sub-County. The body was later moved to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Police investigations are also said to have identified a main suspect using the online alias “Xoloo Kwarkwar,” reportedly linked to the Embobut area. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is currently pursuing leads aimed at locating the suspect and bringing him to justice.
