While attending Annual Peace Mass at Kapsait, Elgeiyo Marakwet County, wife of the late MP for West Pokot which later changed to Kapenguria Constituency, the late Hon. Francis Polisi Loile Lotodo, identified as Mrs. Deborah Lotodo, used that opportunity to announce that come 2027 she is going to be the first woman to vie for Gubernatorial seat in West Pokot County.
When she was given chance to speak, she went straight and reminded people who had gathered there that she is the wife of the late MP Lotodo, therefore she stands a chance to try her luck too on matters politics of West Pokot County. Her announcement left the crowd laughing and clapping. Many could not believe that she is serious about that plan, they are only waiting to see her campaign for that seat come 2027. She is expected to compete with Hon. David Pkosing, MP for Pokot South, former Governor HE. Prof. John Lonyang’apuo among others.
The above mentioned Peace Mass brought together communities from West Pokot County and Elgeiyo Marakwet County. It has been happening for over last 20 years. It is always presided over by Catholic Bishops from Catholic Diocese of Eldoret and Kitale. This year, the mass was lead by Bishop Henry Juma Odonya of Catholic Diocese of Kitale. Bishop Dominic Kimengich of Eldoret Diocese couldn’t make to attend because he was held with some other duties, however he was represented by His Vicar General and several priests.
