The crime took place after a couple had enjoyed a peaceful dinner and retired to bed, unaware that a group of robbers had targeted their home. In the dead of night, the couple was awakened by strange noises from outside their grass-thatched house.

The man quickly grabbed a torch and went to investigate, only to find the roof being ripped off by one of the robbers, who immediately called out his name. “Linganyak! Linganyak! How many times have we called you?” the miscreant shouted. “We will take all the money you brought from Nairobi. You better come out now!”

Fear took hold of the couple, and the wife screamed for help. Her distress call, however, only triggered a gunshot from an AK-47 rifle, which luckily missed the couple, who were shaken by the encounter. The robbers, realizing they were unsuccessful, fled the scene.

In the morning, villagers who heard the commotion found shoe prints outside the house, which led them to the residence of Emmanuel Lomoket, one of the suspected robbers. Upon seeing the group approaching, Lomoket fled, but he was soon apprehended after a brief struggle. The suspect confessed to being part of the gang and led the authorities to the house of an accomplice named Bosco.

A search at Bosco’s residence turned up an AK-47 rifle hidden in a sack of maize, although the suspect was not found. Lomoket, along with the rifle, was handed over to the police for further investigation and was treated before being placed in custody.
