The gospel music world continues to mourn the heartbreaking loss of Regina Muthoni, who passed away on October 2, 2025, after a difficult battle with cancer.

At her memorial service held on Sunday, October 12, her longtime friend and fellow artiste, Veronica Wairimu, offered an emotional tribute—detailing the singer’s painful final months.

Veronica, who has known Regina since 1988, revealed the immense struggle Regina faced as she sought treatment from multiple medical facilities in a desperate bid to manage her illness.

Speaking to a somber audience, she painted a picture of a woman who fought valiantly, even as her body weakened day by day.

“I first want to thank you all for coming to this memorial. My name is Veronica Wairimu. Regina was my close friend, and I have known her since 1988, along with other artistes like Queen Jane,” Veronica said.

“I even worked with her and other artistes. I am deeply grateful that God gave me the opportunity to care for Regina while she was sick.”

According to Veronica, they moved from one hospital to another—including St Peter’s, St John, Kiambu, and Kenyatta hospitals—enduring long waits, complex diagnoses, and expensive treatments, all in hope of finding relief and answers.

“It was a very difficult time, and every hospital visit left us wondering how we would face the next step,” she recalled.

The process of getting a definitive diagnosis was long and emotionally draining, but Veronica stayed by Regina’s side through every consultation and treatment.

Regina eventually passed away at her home in Githurai 44, leaving behind a legacy of gospel music that inspired thousands and a story of resilience that touched many hearts.

As tributes continue to pour in from fans and fellow musicians, Veronica’s heartfelt tribute serves as a reminder of the strength, faith, and unwavering spirit that Regina carried with her—even in the face of a devastating illness.

Her story is not only one of sorrow but also of love, friendship, and the strength it takes to walk alongside someone through their darkest days.
