Kanyari Famil

Sky Victor, daughter of the late gospel singer Betty Bayo, has opened up about the role her stepfather, Hiram Gitau, popularly known as Tash, played in transforming their lives during a difficult period.

Sky spoke out following a court ruling in the ongoing custody dispute involving her and her younger brother, Danny. She expressed frustration over the situation and appealed to Kenyans for support, saying the family was struggling emotionally.

In an emotional social media outburst, Sky also defended her late mother against what she described as unfair claims about her character and priorities.

She pushed back against the narrative that Betty was primarily interested in money during her relationship with her biological father, pastor Victor Kanyari.

According to Sky, her mother left Kanyari’s home with little and was forced to rebuild her life with the children under difficult circumstances.

“We left and went to stay in that small house. We struggled and had nothing. We didn’t even have seats,” she recalled.

Sky credited Tash with helping the family regain stability when they needed it most. She revealed that he provided basic household items, including seats and a television, which made a significant difference in their lives.

“Tash came into our lives and bought us seats and even our TV. He changed our lives, and you people don’t know anything about what we went through,” she said.

She accused members of the public of judging the family based on information shared by Kanyari without understanding their experiences.

Sky explained that the family had largely kept quiet about their struggles, allowing speculation about their circumstances to grow.

She also expressed concern about the possibility of being taken to live with her biological father, saying she felt more comfortable and secure with Tash.

The teenager further revealed that the court ruling had affected her and Danny emotionally, claiming she had been unable to sleep while her younger brother was left in tears.

Sky Appeals to Kenyans for Support

As the custody dispute continues, Sky urged Kenyans to understand the family’s situation and offer support during what she described as a difficult time.

Betty Bayo, a celebrated gospel musician, died in November 2025. Her separation from Kanyari had attracted considerable public attention, and the custody of their children has remained a sensitive issue since her death.
