The funeral of Ol Kalou Member of Parliament David Kiaraho was momentarily disrupted by tension following the heckling of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula by certain audience members.

The incident happened while the speaker acknowledged the leaders present at the mourning service and spoke to the grieving.

Witnesses reported that several locals briefly disrupted the ceremony by yelling slogans related to the “Wantam” movement.

In a different incident, a video crew connected to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was taken out of the VVIP section by security personnel assigned to the presidential detail during the requiem mass in Nyandarua County.

Officers were seen guiding the team out of the restricted area in video footage that went viral online, indicating that security measures were tightened for the high-profile event.

Gachagua attended the ceremony among other national and municipal authorities, despite earlier rumors to the contrary.

He had denied rumors before the ceremony that he would boycott the service since President William Ruto was there.

He asked locals to show up in big numbers and to remain composed during the process.

Additionally, he emphasized that he could not be forced to leave his hometown and declared that he would attend the event despite of political differences.

Along with other leaders, President Ruto was scheduled to speak to the mourners at the funeral.

Respected lawmaker Kiaraho’s funeral drew a sizable crowd and brought together influential politicians, demonstrating his power in Nyandarua County and beyond.

Even while the day was mainly calm, the rare tense moments brought attention to the region’s underlying political differences.

As the nation continues to grieve for the late congressman, leaders in attendance urged harmony and respect.
