Odinga

A wave of outrage erupted in Homabay where irate residents confronted an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) lawmaker following the mysterious death of Albert Ojwang, a popular and outspoken community leader. The confrontation, which quickly turned chaotic, sent a strong and emotional message to ODM leader Raila Odinga, demanding answers and accountability.

The unrest was sparked by growing suspicions surrounding Ojwang’s untimely demise, with locals alleging political foul play. According to community members, Ojwang had become increasingly vocal about local corruption, mismanagement of public resources, and what he described as the growing disconnect between elected leaders and their constituents. His activism, many claim, made him a target.

The situation reached a boiling point when the ODM lawmaker visited the area to attend a public event. Residents, still reeling from grief and anger, confronted the politician, accusing him and other leaders of ignoring Ojwang’s warnings and failing to ensure his safety. Chants of “Justice for Ojwang!” echoed through the crowd as protestors demanded that Raila Odinga personally address the issue.

“We voted for change, not betrayal,” one resident shouted. “Ojwang stood for us. Now he’s gone, and no one is speaking up.”

Local elders and youth leaders alike have called for an independent investigation into Ojwang’s death, insisting that only full transparency will restore public trust.

Despite attempts by the lawmaker’s security detail to de-escalate the situation, the confrontation underscored a widening rift between the ODM leadership and some of its grassroots supporters. Critics argue that unless swift action is taken, the incident could deepen disillusionment within the party’s base ahead of the next election cycle.
