DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa has accused the Kenya Kwanza government of arbitrary abductions and continued enforced disappearances, citing the malicious arrest and subsequent prosecution of businessman Benson Sande Ndeta.

Ndeta, the owner of Savannah Clinker Limited, was arrested and charged in court a few weeks after his company proposed to pay Ksh.25.41 billion for the giant Bamburi Cement company, outbidding the Tanzania-based conglomerate Amsons Industries.

Speaking in Busia, shortly after meeting with his party delegates, Wamalwa stated that the arrest and prosecution of Ndeta were intended to sabotage his bid for Bamburi Cement.

He further condemned the recent attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in Limuru, expressing his dismay over the incident, which he termed state-sponsored hooliganism.

Wamalwa lamented that the abductions, forced arrests, and killings were taking the country back to dark days, raising critical concerns about public safety.

The former CS for Devolution also announced his intention to run for president in the upcoming 2027 general election, a move he hinted at in January.

“I am prepared and as we speak I have taken over the leadership of DAP-K and I already have the endorsement from the party to be their presidential candidate in the 2027 polls,” he told the Sunday Nation then.
“We are in the process now of carrying out membership recruitment to strengthen our party at the grassroots.”
