The ceremony, characterized by rowdy, tipsy guests, no bridal team, and no DJ, has left netizens talking for days.
The event was attended by close friends and family, including Diana’s three children. A video of Patelo’s parents walking him down the aisle has since gone viral. His mother, Caroline Akinyi Ochieng from Migori, made a brief yet spirited speech that drew laughter and admiration from guests. Dressed in a stylish brown gown and matching headgear, she cheerfully welcomed attendees, saying, “Karibuni nyinyi wote. Kwa majina ni Caroline Akinyi Ochieng, kwetu ni Migori. Be free today!”
Despite speculation that the couple may have hired actors to pose as Patelo’s parents, many netizens praised them for showing up and supporting their son. Reactions ranged from humorous to skeptical, with some doubting their authenticity and others applauding their relaxed attitude.
VJ Patelo, 26, shocked many after claiming that his wedding cost a staggering KSh 500 million. He revealed that his tuxedo alone cost KSh 1.7 million, while Diana’s wedding gown, imported from Dubai, was priced at KSh 1.6 million. Their wedding rings cost KSh 1.5 million, and his silver chains were valued at KSh 4.2 million.
The groomsmen, known as the “Wepesi Gang,” reportedly had KSh 2.2 million spent on their outfits. According to Patelo, even the wedding cake was flown in from Dubai.
