Didmus

Videos circulating on social media appear to show a crowd turning restless during an event attended by Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, with some online users claiming the unrest began after money that was reportedly being distributed to attendees ran out.

The footage, which has not been independently verified, shows a large gathering becoming disorderly. Some clips also appear to capture damage to several vehicles and a public address system, while chants can be heard from sections of the crowd.

The exact circumstances leading to the incident remain unclear. At the time of publication, there had been no official confirmation from the National Police Service, the event organizers or the MP regarding what triggered the disturbance.

The videos have nevertheless attracted widespread attention online, with social media users offering differing accounts of what may have happened. However, these claims remain unverified and should not be treated as established facts pending official clarification.

Crowd management has increasingly become a key concern at large political gatherings, where heightened emotions and misinformation can quickly escalate situations. Authorities typically rely on witness statements, video evidence and other investigative findings before establishing what occurred during such incidents.

As investigations or official statements emerge, they are expected to provide a clearer picture of the events and whether any offences were committed.
