An online video shows retired president Uhuru Kenyatta enjoying his time away from running the country.
The footage, captured at an unspecified location, showed the former head of state sitting in a backyard with a group of people. Uhuru and his friends sat on a plastic chair next to a well-manicured hedge, at the back of the house in what appears to be gated estate.
There were several tables before them with refreshments, mostly drinks. Uhuru was engrossed in conversation with numerous middle-aged men while a younger crowd sat further away from them. Behind them was another group, mostly made up of women also enjoying.
The former president was dressed in a blue shirt, dirk trousers, and a safari hat. He animatedly gesticulated as the men keenly listened to him.
Numerous Kenyans admitted to missing the former head of state, but others criticized his presidency. Below are some of the comments:
Mpita Njia: “See, rich people. If it were Eastlands, people would have milled around him, asking for help because their children swallowed stoves.”
Lameck Mong’are: “This guy is enjoying his retirement most comfortably and enjoyably. A never-complicated president Kenya once had.”
Allan Frederick: “Truth be said, I miss him more than that pastor.”
Kelvine Jumah: “You can even find Uhuru in a kiosk, as long as there is a party.”
Ginger Brown: “The best president after Kibaki.”
Em Em: “Someone can’t just enjoy life privately?”
Donatello Versace: “What is he having, so I can get him another? This is a true leader. Very respectable, eloquent, and empathetic.”
