Mawanga

A family in Mawanga, Nakuru, is living a nightmare after 23-year-old Hannah Waithera mysteriously vanished on May 21, 2025. The young mother, who worked at an M-Pesa shop on Kenyatta Avenue, reportedly left her workplace at 1 p.m. to deposit Sh250,000 at the bank—but never made it.

Her husband, Zacharia Karanja, says their final conversation was a quick phone call during which she asked for Sh1,500 to style her hair. After hours of silence and unanswered calls, alarm bells rang.

Panicked, Karanja rushed to her shop, only to learn that she had already left for the bank. He launched a frantic search, later reporting her disappearance to police. Officers initially asked him to wait 24 hours before filing an official report.

The mystery deepened when Waithera’s employer disclosed that the Sh250,000 she was carrying had also gone missing. As hours turned to days with no trace of Waithera or the cash, her family was left devastated.

Her three-year-old daughter still doesn’t understand why her mother hasn’t come home, while relatives and the local community have joined in the desperate search. Despite police investigations being underway, there are still no leads or answers.

Hope lingers—but so does fear. As the days drag on, the family pleads for any information that could shed light on Waithera’s sudden disappearance, while praying for her safe return.

The mystery continues, leaving behind heartbreak, unanswered questions, and a trail gone cold.
