President William Ruto’s state visit to the United States seems to have cemented the bilateral relationship between the United States and Kenya that has been in existence for more than 60 years.
In the visit, Kenya was was awarded a Non-Nato ally status becoming the first African nation. In a recent move that has now got many Kenyans talking, the United States military and the Kenya military have been having plans to host the Justified Accord 2025 Exercise.
The Justified Accord exercise will be hosted in Kenya and a section of Kenyans have not taken it lightly. The move comes barely weeks after Ruto’s visit to the United States where Kenya was made a Non-Nato ally becoming the first sub Saharan African country to be accorded the privilege.
A section of Kenyans have even alleged that the move is a plan by the United States to establish a military base in Kenya in order to extend its influence on the continent of Africa. Others have even termed the move as modern day colonization. See how Kenyans reacted to the report;
“It’s clear that that US want to establish a military base in Kenya to control their dominance in Africa.”
“Modern day colonization and slavery.”
“Can’t they take it elsewhere? We don’t want problems, we want peace.”
