Hiram Gitau, popularly known as Tash and the widower of the late gospel singer Betty Bayo, melted hearts online after pulling off a heartwarming surprise birthday party for Sky Victor, Bayo’s eldest daughter, on August 26, 2026.
A TikTok video shared on Sky’s account captured the surprise as it unfolded. Tash called Sky to ask why she was running late, claiming he had booked a cab early that morning to pick her up.
Sky, apparently unaware of what awaited her, explained that her phone had died.
Once she arrived home, Tash ushered her inside, where guests erupted into a chorus of “surprise.”
The moment that most captured attention online came next, as Tash and Sky broke into a lively dance in the living room, surrounded by friends and family gathered for the occasion.
Sky then went around the room hugging each guest before pausing to admire the birthday cakes laid out for her.
The clip quickly gained traction online, with many Kenyans touched by Tash’s continued commitment to keeping Bayo’s children close and celebrated following her death.
Bayo left behind two children, and Tash has remained a steady presence in their lives since.
Reactions in the comments section blended warmth with humour, with several users joking about the moment inspiring material for Sunday sermons, a light-hearted nod to the children’s biological father, Pastor Kanyari.
Kanyari has been locked in a fierce child custody battle with Tash and has publicly accused him of taking his children away from him.
Other commenters simply praised Tash for the gesture, with one writing that it echoed what Bayo herself once said, that she had left her children in safe hands.
