k Prince

Drama was seen on one of the streets in Nairobi when a man presenting himself as a “Kenyan prince” openly challenged a traffic police officer who had signaled him to the side for a stop.

Witnesses say the stop began when the officer pulled the sports car over to the side of the road for a minor traffic violation. Instead of cooperating, the man, who gave his name as “Prince,” launched into an expletive-filled tirade, objecting to being stopped.

In a viral online video, the self-proclaimed prince is heard screaming at the police officer, asserting that his political and security status was beyond the law. “Do you know who I am? I can call someone and destroy your career in a second,” he boasts, with stunned onlookers grumbling to themselves.

The officer, though, did not back off, remaining cool and professional and requesting the man to show him his driver’s license and automobile registration. When the prince seemed to threaten him, advising him that he would “regret” having pulled him over,.

The altercation has since triggered outrage on social media, with individuals criticizing the prince’s disrespect for the law and arrogance. “No one is above the law. This kind of thing has to stop,” one commenter posted. Others wondered, however, if authorities would act against him considering his said “powerful connections.”.

Police authorities have yet to make an official statement, but authorities indicate that the matter is under investigation. Assuming this is so, the prince will be accused of obstruction of justice and intimidation of a police officer.

Meanwhile, however, the high-drama standoff has left many Kenyans wondering just how much privilege and power can go—and whether the rule of law is still for all.
