An emotional moment was witnessed at Nyamitanga Cathedral Church on Thursday, May 7, as hundreds of mourners gathered to pay their last respects to popular Ugandan gospel singer JB Kazoora.
According to reports by Daily Monitor, the celebrated musician passed away on Monday following complications related to diabetes.
His death has deeply saddened fans, friends, and members of the church, especially after reports emerged that he had gotten married just a week before his sudden passing. Photos and videos from the wedding that circulated online showed the singer and his young wife appearing joyful during the ceremony, unaware of the tragedy that would follow days later.
JB Kazoora was widely known within the Mbarara Archdiocese for composing and performing liturgical hymns in Runyankore-Rukiga and English.
Reports indicate that before his death, the gospel singer had recorded more than 1,000 songs and composed over 600 liturgical hymns, making him one of the most recognised church musicians in the region.
During the emotional service, mourners gathered inside and outside the church to honour his life and contribution to gospel music.
