Parliament has stopped the ‘Nyege Nyege’ festival, an annual social event scheduled to take place next week in Jinja. Tororo Woman MP Hon Sarah Opendi says the event is a breeding ground for sexual immorality. #PlenaryUg
This Years Festival
The Ugandan festival’s seventh edition will be held on the banks of the Nile river, at Itanda Falls, a venue some five times larger than the previous home, which was also in the Jinja area. Check out the map of the festival’s new site below.
About The Festival
It Highlights the underground music and musicians in Africa, the annual event stands for PEACE, LOVE, JOY, and pushing boundaries always with a sense INCLUSIVITY.
The festival itself will once again focus attention on electronic music scenes across Africa, alongside sounds from the global diaspora and others. In total, 300 names will play across seven stages, including MC Yallah, Otim Alpha, Kampire, Phatstoki, MC Aunty Rayzor and DJ Travella.
Attendance
At 9,000 attendees, it is the biggest electronic music festival in East Africa. In 2018, Uganda’s main tourism trade group named the festival the best overall tourism event of the year, repeating the award in 2019.
