On Friday 2nd, the UDA party led by the secretary general, Cleophas Malala, toured Isiolo county where various leaders led by the area Governor officially joined the ruling party. A dramatic and chaotic scene however unfolded in the middle of the event as one politician faced outright rejection from the members.

Former Isiolo woman representative, Rehema Jaldesa, faced a rough time as she tried to make her speech. The crowd chanted her down while others broke into songs ordering the politician to sit down.

Jaldesa remained reluctant and insisted that she had to make her speech. The more she tried to speak the more the chanting and the heckling got louder from the assembling crowd.

“I can hear some people screaming, they should know that I am the master of screaming. When the president visited the other day some people tried to block me not to speak but I still spoke. Even now I will be heard,” stated the politician amid the noises. (Watch video from 12 min).

The noises escalated and the former MP could hardly speak. Cleophas Malala and Governor Abdi Guyo tried to intervene but their efforts could not bear fruits.

The crowd kept chanting “she must go” creating a chaotic environment. Jaldesa was left with no option other than ending her speech prematurely in order to calm the masses. (Watch video from 24 min).

Jaldesa was among the UDA party founders but towards the August election, she abandoned William Ruto and joined an Azimio affiliated party where she ended up losing her seat.

Today, Friday 2nd, Rehema attended the UDA event to confirm that she had returned back to the party. She was faced with rejection from the members.
