Lady Bishop Kathy Kiuna’s daughter, Stephanie, has left netizens in stitches after detailing how she only recently discovered why strangers had spent months calling her husband the “Russian man.”
Stephanie shared the story in a TikTok video, recalling how her Facebook comment section filled up with the same phrase after she posted a Valentine’s Day photo with her husband, Nate.
At the time, she said she was confused by the comments, since Nate is Swiss rather than Russian, and assumed it was simply a case of mistaken identity.
“I literally even asked him, babe, do you look Russian? Like, do people think you look Russian? Is that a thing that you get a lot?” she recalled, laughing.
She said the confusion cleared up much later while she was casually browsing TikTok and came across footage of the man Kenyans had actually been referring to.
That man, identified online as Yaytseslav, had gone viral after clips surfaced showing him using Meta smart glasses to secretly record and approach women across Nairobi.
Stephanie said her reaction shifted from confusion to disbelief once she made the connection, and she went on to express mock outrage at ever being compared to him.
She argued that a Kenyan man behaving the same way toward women in a European country would face serious legal consequences, insisting such conduct warranted arrest, and questioned how anyone could think she would be associated with someone like that.
Her animated retelling quickly gained traction online, with many followers amused by how long it took her to piece the story together.
