Elgeyo Marakwet is in mourning after the death of Jeremiah Kibiwott, the Endo Ward Member of County Assembly.
Kibiwott, a member of the United Democratic Alliance, died in the hospital after being sick for a short time.
The news was made public on Friday by Kibire Kipng’etich, Speaker of the Elgeyo Marakwet County Assembly.
Leaders, coworkers, and people who live in the area say his death is a big loss for the county and the people of Endo Ward, who trusted him.
Kibiwott was in his first term as an MCA, having been elected on a UDA ticket.
Even though he was new to county politics, he quickly got used to the job and was known as a calm and focused leader.
People who worked with him say he listened to residents and pushed for real solutions to their problems.
At the county assembly, Kibiwott was known to be disciplined and respectful of the rules.
Other MCAs say he hardly ever missed meetings unless he was sick and always took part in discussions about growth, service, and responsibility.
Many remember how much he wanted to make basic services better in his ward.
Speaker Kipng’etich said that Kibiwott was a hard-working public servant who was honest and worked hard while in office, though it was not long.
He said that the assembly had lost a member who showed potential and was willing to learn.
Political leaders, community elders, and regular people in the area have all sent their condolences.
Many people have said that Kibiwott was humble, easy to talk to, and close to the people he helped.
As the county mourns, everyone is thinking about the funeral plans and how Endo Ward will fill the leadership gap.
For many people, the main thing is to honor a young leader whose time in public service ended too soon.
