A family in Migori and the wider military fraternity are mourning the sudden death of Corporal Vincent Ouda, a Kenya Defence Forces officer who collapsed while playing football in Awendo, Migori County.
The tragic incident occurred at the Marindi Polytechnic football field, where Corporal Vincent Ouda, attached to Embakasi Garrison, was taking part in a friendly match with other players.
Witnesses said the game was progressing normally when the soldier suddenly collapsed on the pitch.
Fellow players rushed him to the nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Police have since launched investigations into the incident. The body was moved to the mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted to provide answers to his grieving family and colleagues.
News of Corporal Ouda’s death has sparked an outpouring of grief from family, friends and the military community.
Fellow soldiers described him as disciplined, hardworking, and passionate about sports. Friends and teammates remembered him as energetic and always willing to encourage others both on and off the field.
