A traffic police officer was captured falling while walking along a road in Nairobi’s Central Business District, with the incident appearing to leave him struggling to stand.
Footage of the incident shows the officer shortly after saluting as he continued walking before suddenly tripping and falling to the ground. He appeared to have difficulty getting back on his feet and seemed to favour one leg.
Several pedestrians could be seen continuing with their activities as the officer remained on the ground, with none immediately stopping to assist him.
The situation changed when fellow traffic officers arrived and helped their colleague back onto his feet.
The footage has drawn attention to the risks faced by traffic officers while carrying out their duties in busy urban areas, although the exact circumstances that caused the officer to fall and the extent of any injury were not immediately clear.
The incident also highlights how quickly an apparently ordinary moment can turn into an emergency, particularly in a busy city environment where pedestrians and motorists may be focused on their own movements.
Unless confirmed by the police or another reliable source, the officer’s medical condition and the exact cause of the fall remain unknown.
