Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has reacted strongly after detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reportedly picked up Amos Boaz, popularly known as Hammer Hammer, in Kitale town.
Boaz, who serves as a communications officer in the Office of the Governor, was allegedly arrested at gunpoint. The incident has raised political tension, with Natembeya questioning the intentions behind the operation.
In his reaction, the governor suggested that the move was part of a plan to frustrate him and weaken his political influence. However, the circumstances surrounding the reported arrest and the reasons behind it were not immediately clear.
Natembeya maintained that no amount of pressure would stop the political movement gaining support among his followers. He also used the incident to send a strong message ahead of the 2027 General Election.
“Even if they arrest everyone, Waluhya in 2027 wameerevuka! Kura yote ni kwa Sifuna!” Natembeya declared, expressing confidence in Edwin Sifuna and his political supporters.
The governor’s remarks appear to strengthen the growing political conversation around Sifuna and the possibility of new alliances ahead of the next election.
Natembeya also urged his supporters to remain strong despite the challenges they may face. He described the current situation as a difficult period that would eventually pass.
“Haya ni mapito tu! We shall overcome,” he said.
His statement comes at a time when political leaders are positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 elections, with debates over leadership, political freedom and the future direction of the country gaining momentum.
The reported arrest of Boaz could further intensify the political debate, especially if questions emerge about the circumstances surrounding the operation.
For now, Natembeya’s message is clear: he is not ready to back down, and his political camp remains focused on the road to 2027.
