Samuel Muchoki, widely known as Samidoh, has forcefully rejected claims that his nephew, interior designer Jeff Mwathi, died by suicide.
In a new inquest into Jeff’s death, Samidoh insisted that the tragedy was not self-inflicted and demanded a full investigation to uncover the truth.
Jeff Mwathi fell from the 12th floor of Redwood Apartments in Kasarani, Nairobi, on the night of February 22, 2023, after meeting with singer DJ Fatxo for a job-related discussion.
Initial police statements suggested the fall was a suicide, supposedly following a night of partying.
However, the family was not convinced. They raised serious concerns about the handling of the investigation.
They argued that the crime scene wasn’t secured properly, and evidence may have been tampered with.
A second postmortem examination revealed multiple injuries, including severe head trauma, fractures in both the upper and lower limbs, and neck injuries—hinting at foul play, not suicide.
Following this, the family demanded further investigations and re-examination of forensic evidence to ensure justice is served.
CCTV footage also captured a confusing sequence of events: Jeff and others were seen entering the apartment; shortly after, two men exited downstairs, and moments later Jeff was seen falling.
Witnesses and Samidoh’s family describe the scene as too unusual to be a simple suicide.
DJ Fatxo’s legal team insisted he is fully cooperating with the authorities, and he appeared before investigators to answer questions.
Still, the family and supporters want clarity: how could Jeff climb out of a narrow window, fall, and then the window be closed—or closed by whom?
As public calls grow louder, the family hopes that authorities will not stop until every detail is uncovered and justice is delivered.
For them, this case has become about more than just mourning—it’s about truth and accountability.
