Todays kids might not know about Kenyan musician Timmy Tdat but those of us who are a little bit older know him very well.Timmy took the industry by storm back in 2015 with his catchy tunes. What made him stand out was the funny lines he used in the songs. No one had been able to combine comedy and music here in the country. He won multiple awards during this time to around 2020.Every song he did or was featured on was ultimately a hit.He became known not only in Kenya but also the whole of East Africa. He was as big as Mejja is currently now and was given the title king of club music.Timmy’s rise to the top however came to a sudden stop in 2020.It all began with the emergence of the gengetone music genre that took the industry by storm.Timmy used funny lines in his songs but this teenagers in gengetone using even funnier ones attracting more Kenyans.Timmy’s songs were also loved because they were club songs and talked dirty.Gengetone took everything to the next level with even more dirty words and catchy club sounds.Just like that,Kenyans fell out love with Timmy’s sound. He failed to evolve with time and ended up getting wiped out.He is currently trying to stay relevant releasing songs and featuring other artists but it is not working. It is safe to say his stay and time on top is over.
