A number of research have been conducted to collect data on how media stations penetrate among Kenyans thereby determining their popularity. In formation obtained from The Communication Authority of Kenya (CA), Media Council of Kenya (MCK) and other research bodies stated that only few media stations dominate in terms of audience.

Where Citizen TV emerges the most popular TV station in the country boasting largest percentage of country viewers followed by NTV which obtain most of its views in drama programmes such as Churchill Show on Sundays and third is KTN Home which boasts about 11.5% country viewers.

Having said that, below are the five most viewed TV stations in Kenya and their owners.

1. Citizen TV

Citizen TV boasts over 1.7 million average viewers which is 35% of total country’s total viewers. Citizen TV is owned by Samuel Kamau Macharia founder of Royal media services.

2. NTV Kenya

NTV is the second in the list with about 750,000 viewers which is 13% country’s total viewers. NTV is owned by Nation Media Group.

3. KTN Home

KTN is owned by Standard Group and is the third viewed TV station in Kenya boasting around 600,000 viewers which is 11.5% country viewers.

4.KTN News

KTN News is also owned by Standard Group and is the fourth viewed TV station in Kenya boasting around 535,000 viewers which is around 9% country viewers.

5. Inooro TV

Inooro TV is owned by SK Macharia and is the fifth most viewed TV station in Kenya boasting about 442,000 viewers which is equivalent to 7% country viewers.
