He is the man at the helm of Kenya’s premier military training academy. It is here that the future Kenya Defence Forces commanders are trained.
Major General Joel Muriungi M’Arimi is the commandant of the Kenya Military Academy following his appointment in June 2025 to succeed Brigadier Peter Muthama.
Brigadier Muthama reverted back to his previous role as the director of training at the KMA.
Major General M’Arimi succeeded Major General Alphaxard Kiugu Muthuri as the substantive commandant of the Lanet- based military institution.
The battle-hardened Kenya Army general had previously served as the commanding officer, Armoured Brigade before his appointment as the KMA boss.
It is at the Kenya Military Academy that Cadet officer training take place before they are commissioned to officers after their initial training.
The Cadet officers range from General Service Officers ( GSOs ) to Specialist officers, who are specialized in particular fields, including engineering, medicine, law and communication.
Following his quick rise in the military, Major General M’Arimi is one man to watch in future KDF promotions. Will he rise to become Kenya Army commander in future? Well, only time will tell.
