A cloud of sorrow and disbelief hangs over the Don Bosco area along the Embu-Kiritiri road after a 27-year-old man tragically lost his life in a horrific road accident.
The young man, whose identity is yet to be released to the public, was reportedly on his way to celebrate his birthday when the tragedy occurred.
According to eyewitnesses, the deceased was riding a motorcycle while carrying a birthday cake, presumably heading home or to a venue for the celebration.
The joyful mission was cut short when a speeding vehicle lost control and violently rammed into him. The impact was so intense that he died on the spot, with the birthday cake shattered in the wreckage—turning a day of joy into unimaginable grief.
Residents who rushed to the scene were left in shock, describing the sight as heartbreaking.
“You could see the cake scattered on the road… It was so painful to witness,” one local resident told reporters.
Authorities suspect that the vehicle was speeding before the driver lost control and veered off the road, slamming into the motorcyclist.
The driver of the vehicle has since been taken into custody for questioning as investigations begin into what caused the fatal crash.
The body of the young man was moved to Embu Level 5 Hospital Mortuary, while his motorcycle was towed away from the scene.
This tragic incident has sparked renewed concerns over reckless driving and speeding along the Embu-Kiritiri road, an area known for frequent accidents. Local leaders and residents are now calling on traffic authorities to take stricter action to prevent future tragedies.
As family and friends mourn the sudden death of a young man who had looked forward to marking another year of life, the region is once again reminded of the fragility of life on Kenya’s roads.
