He is famous for his story of never giving up in his quest to become the Member of Parliament for Karachuonyo Constituency in Homa Bay County.
Popularly known simply as Adipo Okuome, his story is one of unshakable persistence. He started running for the Karachuonyo Constituency seat in 1980 at the age of 41… and lost. Then lost again. And again. For 37 straight years.
But he never gave up. In 2017, at the age of 78, Adipo Okuome finally clinched the seat under the ODM Party banner. In 2022, he successfully defended his seat, which he currently holds. He intends to run for a third term in 2027 at the age of 88… and if successful, he will serve another five years, taking him to the age of 93.
Before venturing into politics, Adipo Okuome had a long career as an accountant for several organisations, including the Kenya Airports Authority, where he served as a top accountant. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Maryland in the United States.
